Band Info.

               The Blue Hawaiians hail from Flint, Michigan (home of Grand Funk ), and were formed from several other local bands in the fall of 1987. After an evolution and several incarnations, the Blue Hawaiians released their first CD "High Ball" in 1996.  A 16 song collection of horn driven classics by such blues greats as Wynonie Harris, Muddy Waters, and Jimmy Reed.

With the local success of Highball, the band has formed their own label "Neckbone Records", and recorded their second offering on this label entitled, "This That And The Other Thing".  This CD is aptly titled as there is a variety of blues styles ("This"), some reggae ("That"), some rock-n-roll ("The Other Thing").  Also the ‘Hawaiians’ have recorded a third album entitled "Blue Plate special", which was recorded live at Whiting Auditorium in Flint, Michigan in February of 1999. And then most recently "Hotdogs & Popcorn". 

The band’s lineup includes Greg Bauman on guitar and vocals,Jory P on guitar and vocals,  Ed Kulis on bass, Doug O’Connor on drums,  David Huber on saxophone, and band leader Joel Bye on harmonica, percussion, and lead vocals.

Collectively, the Blue Hawaiians have decades of experience playing music in a variety of styles. This experience is reflected in all four of their recordings. These recordings are not only worth a listen, but they are worth having.

Over the twenty years the band has been together The Blue Hawaiians have had the pleasure to open up for such acts as Lonnie Brooks, Grand Funk, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Miracles and Kenny Wayne Sheppard.   After some positive revamping of the group, The Blue Hawaiians are preparing tunes for their next CD, stayed tuned for more info!
